Twenty8twelve

The charming Miller sister’s collaborated in 2006 to start the clothing brand Twenty8twelve (named after Sienna’s date of birth). This talented pair are proof that celebrities can create a brilliant clothing range. It is accessible, unpretentious and well made. Their collection seems to have no fixed center transcending eras and styles, flicking between rock-chick cool and romantic vintage, eventually arriving at a modern tailored London girl aesthetic.
Savannah made her career choice at the tender age of eight, designing Sienna’s first fancy dress costume and knitting with pencils. Naturally this has led her into fashion and Central St Martins where her graduation line featuring fabulous knitwear impressed, earning her a first class degree in 2004. Her career began with the late Alexander McQueen. She has also freelanced with Matthew Williamson, Anya Hindmarch, Betty Jackson and Shanghai Tang.
It would be wrong to presume that Sienna has no input into the creative process. Many have criticised her involvement describing her contribution to the label as status and name only. In actual fact friends of bespoke banter Modus PR vehemently defend Sienna’s involvement and vows she dramatically affects the designs seen in each range. Savannah herself compliments her sisters ability to forecast trends and her aptitude for design.
Having been exposed to beautiful clothes all of her life, Sienna is more than capable of visually aiding the design process. The debut of Twenty8twelve in Autumn/Winter 2009 focused on androgynous power dressing, distorted proportion and referenced sportswear (which is still peeked as a main feature for this years fashion line up.) The brand has matured and maintained a youthful theme throughout yet this year the sisters have found their feet. Opposed to fashion shows the girl are embarking on a new method of publicity. Having interactive presentations and interviews where it is possible for journalists to explore the fabric and natural line of the pieces.
The girls opened a boutique in Westbourne Grove in 2007 and due to its success opened another last summer in trendy St martins Courtyard, Covent Garden. More recently a fairground-themed pop-up store appeared in Selfridges on the 9th March 2011 where the first 100 customers were able to meet the sisters.
